Born in 1934 in Madisonville Kentucky, Joyce (Dottie) Reba Lutrell was perhaps the most prolific songwriter of them all, having published over 2,500 songs! Dottie Rambo is not only without question the queen of country gospel, she is perhaps the greatest female Christian songwriter of all time!
Her songs have been world-renowned for over 50 years. Yes, Elvis Presley sang her songs too, as well as Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston, among others.
She began writing country songs at age 8, but when she became a born-again Christian at age 12, she decided to give her talents to God and write Christian songs. As a result, her father kicked her out of her home (at age 12!!).

Here is a list of some of a few of the most familiar songs she wrote:
1. Behold The Lamb
2. The Church Triumphant
3. He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need
4. He Restoreth My Soul
5. He Sees Me Through The Blood
6. I Go To The Rock
7. I Will Glory In The Cross
8. If That Isn’t Love
9. Is There Anything I Can Do For You?
10. We Shall Behold Him
My favorite Dottie Rambo lyrics:
“He Sees Me Through The Blood”
Chorus
He sees me through the blood and claims me through the Lamb
He doesn’t see my past, He takes me as I am
He doesn’t see the slave, the prisoner or the chains
He sees me through the blood, and He can only see a king.
“He Looked Beyond My Faults and Saw My Need”
Verse
Amazing grace shall always be my song of praise
For it was grace that bought my liberty
I do not know just why He came to love me so,
He looked beyond my faults and saw my need.
Chorus
I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary,
to view the cross where Jesus died for me,
How marvelous the grace that caught my falling soul;
He looked beyond my faults and saw my need.
